The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on May 18 that a warrant has been issued for Kenneth Ashley Jr. following the discovery of drugs, firearms, and cash during a search of a residence.
Authorities said agents found various controlled substances, including Alprazolam pills in multiple strengths and forms, bottles containing Acetaminophen Oxycodone Hydrochloride tablets, marijuana in different quantities, THC vapes, and several bottles of Promethazine Hydrochloride oral solution. Agents also reported locating a Hi-Point Firearms Model JHP .45 ACP handgun with nine bullets under the mattress and $7,241 in cash near an identification card belonging to Kenneth Ashley Jr.
In addition to the drugs and firearm, deputies seized vehicles believed to have been purchased with proceeds from illegal drug distribution: a red 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible, a blue 1991 Ford Mustang 5.0 Convertible, and a tan 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass. A white plastic tub containing an unknown substance emitting a chemical odor was sent to the Acadian Crime Lab for identification; authorities suspect it may be used in manufacturing synthetic cannabis.
A warrant has been secured for Kenneth Ashley Jr., listing several charges including possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (Marijuana), Schedule II (Oxycodone), Schedule IV (Alprazolam) controlled dangerous substances; possession with intent to distribute legend drug (Promethazine); transactions involving drug offenses; possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances; possession of a firearm by someone convicted of certain felonies; and criminal conspiracy to manufacture synthetic marijuana. The total bond is set at $296,500.
