The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on May 18 that David Wayne Fontenot was arrested and charged with one count of possession of methamphetamines after a search at his residence.
The case began when agents learned that Fontenot had an active warrant for probation and parole. During their visit, agents asked Fontenot if he possessed any illegal narcotics, which he denied. Agents then observed two glass meth smoking pipes in plain view on the nightstand. Permission was granted by Fontenot to search the residence.
According to the sheriff’s office, agents found a bottle containing 3.12 grams of marijuana, two meth smoking pipes, .51 grams of methamphetamines in one pipe, .47 grams in another pipe, and an additional medicine bottle containing 1.21 grams of methamphetamines. Following these findings, Fontenot was arrested and charged with one count under Louisiana statute 40:967C for possession of methamphetamines.
Sheriff Charles R. Guillory said the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information regarding criminal activity to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 337-363-2161 or submit a tip through the agency’s website at www.evangelineparishsheriff.org. “Any person(s) reporting information will remain anonymous,” Guillory said.
The sheriff’s office reminds the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
