Detectives from the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office have made progress in the investigation of a theft that occurred at Butler’s Tree Service, which began on January 19, 2026. The initial report detailed the theft of three chainsaws valued at approximately $3,439.
The Criminal Investigations Division has since recovered all three stolen chainsaws and returned them to Butler’s Tree Service.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Devon J. Chapman, 25, of Ville Platte—currently incarcerated at another facility on unrelated charges—has been issued an arrest warrant for one count of illegal possession of stolen things (felony) under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:69. His bond is set at $25,000.
Casey S. McCauley, 31, also from Ville Platte and previously arrested in connection with this case, faces the same charge and bond amount.
