Kelby Brook Willis was arrested on March 13 following the discovery of various controlled substances and cash at a residence in Mamou, Louisiana, according to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest is significant due to the involvement of multiple types of drugs and the alleged illegal use of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) in the presence of a juvenile under 17 years old. Authorities say this raises concerns about child safety and community well-being.
During a search, deputies found 1.13 grams of pink methamphetamine in a red bag with paw print labeling on top of a desk near the kitchen. A grinder containing 0.75 grams of marijuana was located under a coffee table in an adjacent room. In what was identified as Willis’s bedroom, officers discovered an Alprazolam pill (1mg) on a nightstand. Additional searches revealed three separate bags containing methamphetamine: one with 19.76 grams, another red bag with 28.82 grams, and another piece containing 2.75 grams, totaling approximately 51.33 grams of methamphetamine overall. Deputies also seized $495 in U.S. currency.
Willis faces several charges: possession with intent to distribute Schedule II methamphetamine; possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam; transactions involving proceeds from CDS activity; and illegal use of CDS in the presence of a juvenile under age 17.
Sheriff Charles R. Guillory said that anyone with information regarding criminal activity should contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 337-363-2161 or submit tips through www.evangelineparishsheriff.org, assuring that all reports will remain anonymous. “All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” Guillory said.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address drug-related offenses while emphasizing public cooperation and legal protections for those accused.
