Sheriff Charles R. Guillory thanked the community on Apr. 23 for attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of the new Evangeline Parish Detention Center.

The event marked a significant moment for Evangeline Parish, with large attendance and what Guillory described as a historic day for the area. The sheriff said that public support was instrumental in making the new facility possible.

Guillory highlighted features of the state-of-the-art, 200-bed detention center, which include electronic locks, central control systems, an infirmary, a large intake area, and juvenile holding cells. “Thanks to all the citizens of Evangeline Parish for making this a reality. It was long overdue,” he said.

He also expressed pride in both the parish and its accomplishment with this project. “The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office will continue to prioritize our citizens and keep us safe,” Guillory said.

Guillory concluded his remarks by thanking attendees again and expressing his hope that the new facility will serve the community well.
