Trick Or Treat Trail Scheduled For October 29th At South City Park

(Opelousas, LA) — The City of Opelousas will once again offer  residents a ghostly good time this Halloween by hosting a fun and  exciting Trick or Treat Trail. This family friendly event will be held  along South City Park Walking Trail on Saturday, October 29, from 4 PM  to 6 PM. The park is located at 1524 Market Street on Opelousas.  Organized by Opelousas Tourism and Parks & Recreation Department,  the event is free and open to the public and aims to provide the  community with a fun alternative to traditional door to door  trick-or-treating, keeping safety in mind.

Area businesses and organizations will set up along the trail will  offer treats, goodies and activities to participants. Other activities  planned include costumed characters, train rides, pop-up haunted houses  and monster mash music. There is no cost for organizations to  participate. The only requirement is to hand out treats to children that  walk the trail. The event is designed for kids ages 12 and under.

Last year, in order to provide additional safety and social  distancing, the Safe Halloween was moved from its prior location of Le  Vieux Village to South City Park. The inaugural park event was a big  success with over 30 businesses and organizations participating along  the trail.

Opelousas Mayor Julius Alsandor and the City Council, along with  Opelousas Police Department and the City Marshal’s office are dedicated  to providing family-oriented events to residents by offering citizens a  fun way to spend time in their community. The Trick or Treat Trail is  also made possible with the support of many local businesses and  organizations.

For information about how to sign up as a participant along the Trick  or Treat Trail or to find out how you can become an event sponsor,  email tourism@cityofopelousas.com or call 337-948-6263.
