The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on Mar. 13 the arrest of two Ville Platte residents, Clint Jacob Lafleur and Fabian Byron Fontenot, on various charges including narcotics possession and resisting arrest.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address criminal activity in the area. The sheriff’s office said Lafleur was charged with possession of methamphetamine, two counts of resisting with force or violence, and simple criminal damage to property. Fontenot was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

According to the statement, “Clint Jacob Lafleur was arrested and charged with the following: 1 Count La Rs 40:967C Possession of Schedule II CDS – Methamphetamine; 2 Counts La Rs 14:108.2 Resisting with Force or Violence; 1 Count La RS 14:56 Simple Criminal Damage to Property.” Both individuals are listed as residents of Ville Platte, Louisiana.

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory encouraged community members to report any information regarding criminal activity by contacting the Criminal Investigations Division at 337-363-2161 or submitting a tip through the agency’s website at www.evangelineparishsheriff.org. The sheriff’s office emphasized that all tips will remain anonymous and reminded the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The sheriff’s office continues its efforts to involve the community in crime prevention and investigation.
