How many students were enrolled in St. Landry Parish School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

There were 12,240 students enrolled in St. Landry Parish School District schools in the 2021-22 school year, 3.3% less than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.9% of them were boys, and 49.1% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were Black or African American, representing 56.6% of the St. Landry Parish School District total enrollment.

St. Landry Parish School District covers approximately 33 schools within St. Landry Parish, with its main office in Opelousas.

Among the 33 schools in St. Landry Parish School District, Opelousas Senior High School recorded the highest enrollment of 809 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The majority of Louisiana students were identified as white and Black, representing 48% and 37% of the state student body respectively during the 2021-22 academic year. Hispanic students made up 8.6% of the student body, and other ethnic minorities made up 5.6%.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
