Enrollment in Iberia Parish School District schools decreased from previous year

The only school district in Iberia Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 11,390 students in the halls of Iberia Parish School District schools, 4% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in Iberia Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.7% of them were boys, and 49.3% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Iberia Parish School District students was white, accounting for 44.9% of the student population.

Iberia Parish School District has a main office in New Iberia and is the only school district within Iberia Parish.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.
