Evangeline Parish Education: Fewer students enrolled in Evangeline Parish School District schools in 2021-22 school year

The only school district in Evangeline Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 5,657 students in the halls of Evangeline Parish School District schools, 1.2% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in Evangeline Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52% of them were boys, and 48% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 56.3% of the Evangeline Parish School Districts total enrollment.

Evangeline Parish School District has a main office in Ville Platte and is the only school district within Evangeline Parish.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.

Only 22% of Louisiana’s teachers are Black or Latino, compared to about 48% of the state's K–12 students who identify as either race.
